  1. Great Tasting Coffee

Posted by Unknown on 4th May 2013

My former one was a Melitta Mill & Brew which lasted 10 years. I couldn't bear to part with it, but this was a great replacement.

    Pros:
Great taste. Temperature remains hot in the thermal for several hours. Removable base so I can fit a to-go cup instead of using the carafe. The to-go cup feature allows you to indicate different sized cups as well, really handy since I take my coffee on the train every morning and have to switch between cups each day.

Cons: loud grinder, my neighboring apartment can hear it through the cement walls. I would say it's about the same level as an old vacuum or a high-end blender. Hard to avoid this one since it's plugged in right next to the wall! Also, I notice extremely fine residual grinds at the bottom of my cup. Being that they are so fine, I have a tendency to drink them too! It could be necessary to adjust the intensity level, a stronger intensity might be what produces a finer grind. I use 4 out of 7 levels. Someone reviewed that a paper filter fixed their residual problem, so I'm going to try that instead of the gold mesh filter. There are also 2 parts difficult to hand wash. The thermal carafe has a small hole, so I can't fit my hand inside to scrub the interior (I have small hands). And the plastic gray basket that physically holds the gold mesh filter. I find it much easier to put these 2 parts in the dishwasher.
